Visitation Bill Passes Senate
Jun 13th, 2009 | By Mitch Crane | Category: LegislationHB 112-The Hospital and Nursing Home Visitation Rights Bill passed the Delaware Senate 21-0 on Thursday, June 11th. Governor Markell should sign it by the end of the month. The Bill, a major piece of DE Stonewall legislation, will allow competent adults to decide who can or cannot visit them in hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. This legislation was kept from the floor in 2008 by the then-Republican controlled House.
After taking control in January, the House Dems quickly moved the Bill through committee and onto the floor where a 39-0 vote sent it to the Senate.
The Delaware Stonewall Democrats thank the Bill’s prime sponsors, Representative John Kowalko and Helene Keeley and Senator’s George Bunting and Margaret Rose Henry.
