SB 121 – Anti-Discrimination Bill passed both the Delaware Senate and the House

Jun 24th, 2009 | By webadmin | Category: Legislation

After more then 3 hours, Sb 121 finally passed the Delaware Senate and was immediately moved tot he House of representative for a vote.  An attempt to block the vote by stating that the representatives had no time to prepare, was stopped because a bill identical to SB 121 had passed the Delaware House of representatives just weeks before, and, at that time, testimony had been heard and the bill had been debated.

Three unfriendly amendments were quickly defeated and the bill passed yet one more time in the House.  After more then 10 years of hard work by Delaware Stonewall and LGBT individuals around the State, the bill is now waiting to be signed into law by Governor Jack Markell who already said that he would sign this bill.

Join us at Delaware Stonewall’s fundraiser this coming weekend, where we will celebrate passage of the bill as well as the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
